A post indicator valve assembly, often shortened to PIV, helps show and control the open or shut position of a fire protection control valve from an accessible location. In many fire protection systems, the valve itself may be underground, inside a wall, or installed where the handwheel is not convenient to reach. An indicator post solves that problem by giving contractors, inspectors, and emergency responders a clear operating point and a visible OPEN or SHUT window.
Unimech Flow supplies Arita Fire Solutions wall indicator posts and underground indicator posts for use with compatible NRS gate valves. Contact us for current stock, stem length questions, and contractor pricing.

UL Listed and FM Approved are two separate third-party product approval systems commonly referenced in fire protection specifications. UL focuses on safety testing and listing, while FM Approvals focuses on property-loss prevention and performance requirements used by many insurers, engineers, and fire protection specifications.
For contractors, the important point is simple: do not assume one mark replaces the other. Check the project specification, submittal requirements, model number, size, and current certification documents before ordering fire protection valves.
Need UL/FM fire protection valves in stock? Unimech Flow stocks Arita Fire Solutions valves in Houston and can help with submittals, contractor pricing, and nationwide shipping.
